My sister and I along with two Foundation volunteers journeyed to Little Corn Island in June 2013. There are no roads or motorized vehicles. Only walking paths, jungle, beach and ocean. The island has power a few hours per day. We spent our time vacationing & volunteering with a local Children’s Reading Room. We brought arts & crafts supplies with us and spent an afternoon working with the kids. It was incredible to see their excitement with using scissors, glitter and bubbles for the first time. We decided that night that we would continue to support the reading room after we returned home. In August ’13, we raised $1,100 dollars to provide arts & crafts supplies (books, paper, scissors, glue, pencils, etc.) to the reading room for the next several months. The 210 lbs of supplies were delivered on October 11th, 2013.
